(The inspiring story of Cliff Young)
You’ve always felt you were the baddest dude at the BBQ and you were probably right, but that’s just ’cause Cliff Young doesn’t go to BBQ’s. In fact, for the last 30 years of his life, Cliff didn’t eat meat at all.
What Cliff did do was revolutionize the way folks run Ultra Marathons. At 61 years of age the Victorian born potato farmer felt that a lifetime of herding sheep by foot qualified him to compete in the 554 mile Westfield Sydney to Melbourne Ultra Marathon. He showed up to the race in gumboots and overalls making the snickers and stares well deserved.
When the race began he quickly fell to the back of the pack, so far back that he didn’t realize the other runners had already stepped off to sleep after 18 hours (Ultra Marathoners run for 18 hours and sleep for 6). Cliff kept on running through the night and would end up passing the herd. By the end of it all a country would fall in love and a Ultra Marathon record would be broken… by two whole days.
Watch a little bit of Cliff’s story above. That goofball’s my hero.

Great tips to follow. Being professional and showing them there’s more to come I think are the most important. You need to give them a great article, that makes them want to come back. And then make sure you don’t disappoint.
