The wait for a clash between two of the largest freaks on the UFC roster is nearly over as heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar and interim heavyweight champ Shane Carwin are set to duke it out July 3rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Lesnar, a former D-1 National Champion wrestler and WWE superstar, was forced to pull out of their previously scheduled bout at UFC 106 due to diverticulitis, or as he eloquently explains, “a hole in my stomach.” Meanwhile, Carwin has been bumped off of three fight cards in a row since winning the interim championship, presumably sharpening his technique and conditioning through three partial training camps. I bet he’s ready for a paycheck…
Given the background and size of the two fighters this ought be one of the biggest fights in the promotion’s history. Lesnar was the D-1 heavyweight runner up in 99′ and champion in 00′ while attending the University of Minnesota. He’s also a genetic freak forced to cut weight to make the 265 lb. heavyweight limit. Carwin was D-2 runner up in both 96′ and 97′ and won the championship in 99′. He is also freakishly large and hasn’t let one of his previous 11 opponents get out of the first round.
It’s truly going to be a modern day Goliath vs Goliath
Unfortunately the co-main event has fallen apart as Wanderlei Silva was forced out of his bout with Yoshihiro Akiyama after suffering a torn knee and three broken ribs. What, they can’t just wheel him into the cage? Taking his place will be Chris Leben, so just replace “legend” with “drunken embarrassment” every time you hear it in the second half of the hype-up video below. That should cover your bases.

This is an epic post, I will be adding this site to my list!

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
