Has Anyone Seen Brian Collins?

Author: Stretch

(Has anyone seen this man?)

Millions of people have seen “Boom Goes the Dynamite.” There have been over 5 million views on YouTube alone, and I’m probably accountable for about 100 of them myself. So, what ever happened to “Boom Goes the Dynamite”?

We know his name is Brian Collins. The video was taken during his freshman year at Ball State. Collins was filling in for the school’s regular sports anchor while an inexperienced teleprompter operator accidentally fast-forwarded the text he was reading, which led to the infamous on-air train wreck.

The incident is so famous that it is referred to as “The Collins Incident” in journalism schools across the country.

Collins became a pop-culture icon and made appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman and the Early Show on CBS. Collins also received a personal message from ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, who provided Collins words of encouragement. In 2009, the Best Damn Sports Show Period named “Boom Goes the Dynamite” the #1 sports blooper in television history.

After graduating from Ball State, Collins became a reporter for KXXV television in Waco, Texas. He was eventually dropped from the show as a result of cost-cutting measures at the station.

We have not been able to find out what Collins is up to these days, so, Brian, if you’re out there, drop us a line! Hopefully you’re not face down in a ditch getting railed by a meth tweaker (admittedly stolen from The Hangover).
