Georges Laraque is a 275 lb. hockey enforcer and widely considered the best fighter on ice. He was voted “Fighter of the Year” by The Hockey News in 2003 and named number one enforcer by Sports Illustrated in 2008. He also became one of my favorite players when my ice-hound pal Grindles showed me a video of Laraque mic’d up in a game (above). The Canadian brute was caught accepting a fight on the ice saying, “You want to? Okay. Square off? Okay, good luck man.” He then proceeded to punch the guys’ will out and grapple him to the ice.
Though there’s no denying the bad-assness of Mr. Laraque on the ice, he should have known it was dumb to challenge UFC Welterweight champ Georges St Pierre to a wrestling match. Perhaps even dumber to show up… (Video after the jump). Despite having a 85 lb. advantage Laraque was handled by the champ, whose technique and conditioning proved to be too much for the brawling puck daddy. Following the match Laraque had this to say:
“That’s much harder than an NHL game or a hockey fight. It’s unbelievable, I couldn’t imagine fighting someone my own size.”
See the humbling experience below:
Perhaps Laraque could add some technique to his already impressive size, toughness and athleticism to become a budding heavyweight contender once his hockey career comes to a close…? I’d like to see it!

This is a good little blog, I can’t believe that I didn’t stumble upon it already.
I’m impressed! It’s such a shame more people haven’t heard about this site, this article covered just what I needed
