Kurt Warner retired yesterday after 12 seasons in the NFL. The 38 year-old was a 2-time NFL MVP and 2-time Super Bowl Champion. He started out bagging groceries and bouncing around in the Arena Football League. Warner may or may not be a Hall of Fame quarterback, but nobody can question the fact that he was a class-act and was responsible for reviving both the Rams and Cardinals franchises.

But the one thing I’ll remember him for are those stupid gloves he wore while he played. Can somebody explain to me why he wore receivers gloves as a quarterback?

(LT chillin’ on the bench… a picture says a thousand words)

The J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS, pulled off an improbable win in San Diego that left Chargers fans in shock (haha… get it?). The Jets were supposed to be lucky just to be in the tournament (stealing Rex Ryan terminology), but they weren’t supposed to advance. Now, after a cold win in Cincinnati, and another in sunny San Diego, the New York Jets are heading to the AFC Championship game in Indianapolis to face the the heavily favored Colts.

The “other” game, a much anticipated NFC match-up between Minnesota and Dallas, was supposed to be a barn burner. It was supposed to be the red-hot Dallas defense battling against Favre & Co.’s triple-threat offense. In reality it turned out to be the Brett Favre, Sidney Rice pitch-and-catch show. And on the other side of the ball, the only thing Tony Romo accomplished during his trip to Minnesota was walking off the field under his own power. Romo spent the majority of the afternoon getting thrown around in the backfield like a WWE stage-prop.

So the stage is set and the Final Four of the NFL looks like this…

AFC Championship Game
New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday, January 24th, 3:00pm EST on CBS
Indianapolis favored by 7.5

NFC Championship Game
Minnesota Vikings @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday, January 24th, 6:40pm EST on FOX
New Orleans favored by 4.5

We’ll have a complete run-down and predictions this week so check back in!

Are you kidding me? This guy is the definition of a human freak-show. When’s the last time you ran 75 yards through an NFL defense and reversed slammed the ball through the goal post? I’ve heard of “rim-rattling” dunks but this is the first “goal post-rattling” dunk I’ve ever seen. How could Matt Stafford not have a bright future when his #1 receiver is 6’5′, 236 lbs, runs a 4.35 40-yard dash and has a 45 inch vertical leap?

It’s also worth mentioning that Johnson was a stand-out student at Georgia Tech and NFL scouts listed one of his greatest attributes as “humility and manners.” No wonder they call him “Megatron.” The guy is a fucking machine.

Brady Quinn received a letter from the NFL today fining him an undisclosed amount for a chop block against Terrell Suggs in the Browns’ 16-0 loss against the Ravens Monday night. Suggs suffered a severe MCL strain from the block and will be out for several weeks.

The block was unnecessary and uncalled for, but it was the least of the damage Brady would cause Monday night. What the NFL should be fining Brady Quinn for is forcing the entire sports-fan nation to sit through one of the worst offensive performances I can remember this past Monday. Quinn has seen action in five games this season, scoring 1 touchdown and throwing 5 interceptions while averaging just above 100 yards per game. Monday he completed 13 of his 31 pass attempts and threw two interceptions, earning himself a QB rating of 23.5. His accumulative quarterback rating for the season is 51, placing him second worst in the NFL only behind JaMarcus Russell.

Quinn isn’t the only one to blame for the poor performances we’ve come to expect from the Brownies, but he is responsible for that pick-6 he threw that helped Baltimore cover the spread, and sometimes as a Cleveland fan the spread is all there is worth rooting for. Thanks a lot, Brady.

Check out a sweet picture of Brady and his pals after the jump!
