“First and foremost, not only do I want to fight Manny Pacquiao, I want to whip his punk ass.” – Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The on again, off again super-fight drama between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao continued today. The rub has been drug-testing procedures and Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s rep, has used that as a crutch for his client. Yesterday Arum messaged that the fight was off (again) after intense negotiation. He claimed that Mayweather’s unwillingness to change his stance on drug-testing was the reason. Today Mayweather cleared the air.

“Throughout this whole process I have remained patient but at this point I am thoroughly disgusted that Pacquiao and his representatives are trying to blame me for the fight not happening when clearly the blame is on them,” Mayweather said in a statement.

Mayweather continued, “Before the mediation, my team proposed a 14-day, no blood testing window leading up to the fight. But it was rejected,” Mayweather said. “I am still proposing the 14-day window but he is still unwilling to agree to it, even though this is obviously a fair compromise on my part as I wanted the testing to be up until the fight and he wanted a 30 day cut-off. The truth is he just doesn’t want to take the tests.

“In my opinion it is Manny Pacquiao and his team who are denying the people a chance to see the biggest fight ever. I know the people will see through their smokescreens and lies. I am ready to fight and sign the contract. Manny needs to stop making his excuses, step up and fight.”

Seems crystal clear to me! Mayweather has been calling Team Pacquiao out all along and has not backed down one bit. He’s not afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao, he just wants to ensure the fight is clean. Keep in mind, Mayweather is a heavy favorite to win, so the notion that he is dodging Pacquiao is a joke.

Bob Arum is a piece of shit. Manny Pacquiao is an idiot. And as far as I’m concerned, if Pacquiao doesn’t fight Mayweather on March 13 then he goes down in history as the drug-abusing, pussy who dodged Mayweather Jr. Simple as that.

The most anticipated boxing match since the turn of the millennium is looking less and less likely to happen. Recently Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum claimed the fight was “dead as a door nail,” and now Pac-Man is throwing fuel onto the fire by threatening to sue Mayweather for slander:

“Enough is enough. These people, Mayweather Sr., [Mayweather] Jr. and Golden Boy Promotions, think it is a joke and a right to accuse someone wrongly of using steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. I have tried to just brush it off as a mere pre-fight ploy, but I think they have gone overboard… I have instructed my promoter, Bob Arum, head of Top Rank Inc., to help me out in the filing of the case as soon as possible because I have had people coming over to me now asking if I really take performance-enhancing drugs and [if] I have cheated my way into becoming the No. 1 boxer in the world”

It’s worth noting that Pac-Man has never failed a drug test in 55 professional fights, though he’s been unwilling to be subject of Mayweather’s request for Olympic-style testing. The tests would be conducted by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and would consist of random blood and urine samples during training camps and even the day of the bout.

Bob Arum suggested Christmas day that they would begin to look into a bout with junior welterweight Paulie Malignaggi:

“I reached out to Lou DiBella [Malignaggi's promoter], and we’re going to schedule that fight for March 13 unless something drastically changes with this Mayweather thing…  I’m not going to leave Manny without a fight because of this nonsense [with Mayweather].”

I don’t know about you guys but I’m not about to throw down 60 bones to watch Pac-Man dismantle a 27-3 fighter with only 5 KO victories. Malignaggi is still a young guy with a great future, but the match-up the sport of boxing needs right now is Pacquiao vs Mayweather. The two have an opportunity to compete in the most purchased Pay Per View event in history while their sport is as far away from mainstream media as it’s been since conception.

The drama continues between camp Mayweather and camp Pacquiao. Pacman’s rep, Bob Arum, said, “In my mind (this fight), is dead as a door nail,” adding that, “we’re starting to look, today, for other opponents” for Pacquiao.” Arum’s comments were in reaction to Pacquiao’s refusal to take Olympic-style drug tests for the fight. Mayweather’s camp has maintained, since day one of negotiations, that they suspect Manny isn’t a clean fighter and that Floyd will not fight Manny unless he agrees to a strict, 3rd party drug test.

I’m not going to get on a soapbox about how boxing is broken and needs a uniform, governing body because that’s a moot point. The real question here is simple, why wouldn’t Pacman agree to an Olympic-style drug test? If you have nothing to hide then surely you’d be fine with any drug test, right?

I’m going to beat through the bush here and say that if Pacman doesn’t agree to an Olympic-style drug test then he’s a complete fraud. It’s clear he’s either looking for an excuse not to fight Mayweather because he knows he’ll lose, or he is in fact a dirty fighter and doesn’t want to get caught. Either way it’s a PR nightmare for Pacman that could end his career and tarnish his legacy forever.

A lot of people can’t stand Floyd Mayweather Jr. but personally, I like the guy. When you’re 40-0 in hand-to-hand combat you can say whatever the fuck you want. The simple fact is the guy writes checks with his mouth that his talent can cash with ease.

The mega-fight was scheduled for March 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and would have been the richest purse in either fighters career… by far. At this point we don’t know if the fight will happen but it’s obvious that Mayweather has already cornered Pacman and they haven’t even started training camp yet. We’ll keep you posted.
