(At first glance I thought it was Monestary Night at the Q)

The Guinness Book of World Records was on hand to authenticate the record as 20,562 fans donned their custom-designed Cavs Snuggies blankets for five minutes during last nights game against the Pistons. I have to give the Cavs marketing department credit for being creative, but to be honest, Snuggie Night was more creepy than anything.

Snuggies aside, the Cavs overcame a 21 point, 2nd quarter hole to win 99-92. LeBron had 40 points and 13 rebounds and this is the 14th time LeBron has scored 40 and had more than 10 rebounds since he entered the NBA.

Despite the new world record and the Cavs win, the night was overshadowed by Pistons point guard, Rodney Stuckey, who collapsed near Detroits bench. Stuckey was rushed to the Cleveland Clinic during the game and is reportedly doing fine.

Pretty eventful night at the Q. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rodney and his family.

(Rajon Rondo is a Witness too)

This morning we showed you what LeBron did to Jason Richardson. This afternoon we’d like you to “Witness” what LeBron did to Rajon Rondo.

I don’t know what’s worse… taking it from the Sisters in prison like Andy Dufresne, or getting rejected while going up for a dunk in front of 20,000 fans?

After watching this video I might actually go with Option A because at least my mom wouldn’t have to see it happen. Click here to check out the block and let us know which option you’d prefer.

(Jason Richardson is a Witness)

In my opinion, the only way to truly tell if an athlete is great, is to witness them doing things no one has ever done.

LeBron James does things on a nightly basis that I’ve never seen before. Now I know what the whole “Witness” thing is all about.

While most great NBA players need a season to justify a highlight reel, LeBron only needs one game. He makes plays every night that defy logic, leaving opposing players and fans with questions like,

“How does a 6’8″ guy play the point and dribble between his legs like that?”

“Is that a regulation 10 foot rim?”

“Where the fuck did he come from?”

The answer to that last question might be Mars, but that’s not what I meant. “Where the fuck did he come from?” is what Jason Richardson asked himself while he was laying on the floor after LeBron blocked his reverse-360 dunk attempt. LeBron came from the opposite end of the court and still beat Richardson to the spot.

Please understand, Richardson is a freak athlete himself, but that’s what makes his block so amazing. LeBron ran a 3.9 40-yard dash the length of the court and then jumped high enough into the air to deny a two-time dunk champion from behind.

There isn’t another human being on planet earth who could have made that play.

If he wasn’t before, you bet your ass Jason Richardson is a Witness now.

LeBron said he would lead the charge and change his own digits, 23, a number seen stitched and sowed next to "LBJ" on millions of jerseys, blankets, and beach towels worldwide. Well believe it or not, he's done it.

You may remember LeBron suggesting last November that the NBA retire the number 23 league-wide in honor of basketball icon Michael Jordan. He even said that he would lead the charge and change his own digits, a number seen stitched and sowed next to “LBJ” on millions of jerseys, blankets, and beach towels worldwide.

Believe it or not, he’s done it.

The King just barely made a Wednesday deadline to submit a number-change request to the NBA and ought be rocking six (his team USA number) next season. Cleveland fans are worried the change may be a sign that the ladder of 2010 will be a new beginning for LBJ, but such speculation’s the likes of a 17-year-old worried he got that chick from the public school pregnant last weekend by not implementing the “withdraw method” properly. Let’s just wait and see, fellas.

In my opinion the change is a good one. Lebron would have to win 7 championships compared to Jordan’s 6 for people to associate “23″ with “LeBron,” and if you want to be considered one of the best ever your name has to be synonymous with your number. Then again Bill Russell, the real number 6, won 11 rings… but that was in a time before awesome YouTube highlights, so “6″ it is.

ESPN's Gene Wojciechowski just dropped a bomb on Cleveland, Miami and Toronto today on the homepage of ESPN's website ("Blueprint for an NBA dynasty").

Oh no they didn’t!

ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski just dropped a bomb on Cleveland, Miami and Toronto today on their homepage (“Blueprint for an NBA dynasty”).

We’ve dropped some bombs on Cleveland in the past, and it looks like ESPN is joining the assault well. With the NBA’s strongest free agency in league history happening this year, the rumor-mill and speculation will be running wild from now until the beginning of the 2010-2011 season. I have nothing against players like LeBron, Dwyane and Chris staying in their respective cities. If they’re loyal and happy, good for them.

But it’s my journalistic right and responsibility to share an opinion (I’m actually not a journalist, just a 20-something guy sitting in his underwear writing blog posts in my parents basement). So I ask myself, “Why wouldn’t these guys at least consider the possibility of joining forces?” What does every great professional athlete say when it’s all said and done?

“I wish I had made more money.”

” I wish I hadn’t contracted herpes.”

“I wish I had won a championship(s).”

Exactly. Does LeBron want to be the Dan Marino of the NBA? Fuck no. So if you think he’s not at least having the conversations with Bosh and Wade then you’re just ignorant. You would if you were in his shoes.

Right now, the Knicks are on the hook for only $18.6 million in contracts next season. The Nets are committed to just $26.6 million worth of deals, while the Heat are at $30.7 million, the Bulls at $31.9 million, the Clippers at $33.5 million, the Kings at $33.9 million and the T-Wolves at $35.2 million. These teams have ample room for 3 superstars. Specifically, they could afford to pay each guy $11 million per year, which doesn’t suck.

Again, I’m not hoping these guys leave their teams, but the idea that it could happen is a story in itself. Nobody wanted to hear this speculation when we first wrote about it last November (“LeBron Staying in Cleveland? Ha!”) but now the mainstream media is starting to pick up the story and it’s only going to get worse over the next several months.

Sorry Cleveland.

(There is an 89% chance Williams drove to the bucket and missed this shot)

Uh-oh Cleveland fans…

The Cavs made a big move acquiring Antawn Jamison, but that wasn’t enough against the Magic today in Orlando. I like the Jamison trade, but Antawn Jamison can’t make Mo Williams and Delonte West any better. In yet another example of the Cavs supporting cast choking in a big game, Williams went 1-9 from the field and West was 2-9.

Jamison and O’Neal both played well, going 9-14 and 9-10, respectively. LeBron, was also a stud, but that’s not a surprise to anyone.

The Cavs need to figure out a way to get more consistent bench play in big games. Mike Brown needs to start getting Williams and West into games earlier so they can get into a rhythm. If role players can’t get something going early on they need to adjust and jest keep them off the floor.

Orlando is starting to look like the Orlando from last years playoffs and if the Cavs don’t get more consistent production from their bench they can’t beat the Magic…. let alone the Lakers or Nuggets.

The Cavs didn’t end up getting Amar’e Staudemire after all, but they were part of a three team trade that landed them Antawn Jamison. Cleveland got Jamison and Sebastian Telfair and the Wizards got Zydrunas Ilgauskas and a first-round pick.

It was a great trade for both teams. In Jamison, Cleveland gets a proven, veteran role player who can help them win a championship this year. The Wizards get a solid post player and a 1st round pick to start rebuilding next year.

Jamison, an 11 year veteran, is averaging 20.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Jamison has averaged 19.9 points throughout his career, so he should be able to provide Cleveland with some additional scoring power.

I believe the Stoudemire trade fell through because of money, but I’m sure Shaq had something to do with it. Shaq isn’t a big fan of Amar’e and I’m sure he told the Cavs brass that they don’t need another big guy. Whether Shaq influenced the Cavs or not, I think the Jamison trade is better.

For starters, Amar’e could have been a problem with his attitude and that could kill the Cavs championship hopes. Second, the Cavs have the best record in the NBA and they’ve beat the Lakers twice already this season, so adding a dependable role player like Jamison makes a lot more sense.

But, the trade is only a success for Cleveland if they win a championship… so stay tuned.

(Amar’e Stoudemire getting prepared for winter in Cleveland)

With the biggest free agent year in NBA history looming, and LeBron on the brink of an NBA Championship, the Cavs are reportedly trading Z and Hickson for Amar’e Stoudemire.

The Cavs need to do anything they can to keep LeBron happy and keep him in Cleveland. Acquiring another young star is a good start. Now if they can win a Championship together it will increase the Cavs chances of keeping LeBron. Let’s face it, if the Cavs lose LeBron to free agency, they should just bulldoze Cleveland into Lake Erie.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas is a great player, but he’s on the back-nine of his career. Hickson could be a force some day, but he’s young and a bit undersized. Stoudemire is a beast in the making. He’s a guy who can counter Dwight Howard in the East and the Lakers Bigs in the West. Essentially, with Soudemire, the Cavs could be an unstoppable force for years to come.

Let’s just hope they ink the deal because the NBA needs to shake things up, All-Star Weekend hasn’t exactly been exciting.

PS – I’m taking a crap right now (“Alternatives to NBA All-Star Game”)

(Ron Jeremy, entrepreneur, porn legend)

Most self-respecting porn stars don’t use their given name. Now I realize the terms “self-respecting” and “porn stars” don’t usually go hand-in-hand, but bear with me because I’m heading toward a point.

The porn industry has a tried and true system that helps aspiring porn stars come up with on-camera nicknames. Stars like Jenna Jamison, Lexington Steele and Ron Jeremy (above) have all used the following method to come up with their on-camera names. It’s a simple formula that yields tremendous results:

Porn Star Name = Middle Name + Street You Grew Up On

Last night, while I was drinking Zima’s with my buddies, we started sharing our respective porn names with each other. We were laughing heartily when it hit me… what would Shaq’s porn name be? How about LeBron? Peyton Manning? etc, etc.

I started trying to come up with their names but the problem with pro athletes is there is no information about what street they grew up on. This left me with a huge dilema, so I had to call an audible and came up with the following formula for pro athlete porn names:

Porn Star Name = Middle Name + Head Coaches Last Name

So, to fulfill my own curiosity, and test this new formula, I created a list of some of the best athlete porn names using this new method. Needless to say, I was amazed by the results! So who’s your favorite? Do you like the formula? Am I missing any good ones out there?

…………………………………………………………..

LeBron James “aka” Raymone Brown

Shaquille O’Neal “aka” Rashaun Brown

Peyton Manning “aka” Williams Caldwell

Derek Jeter “aka” Sanderson Girardi

Dwyane Wade “aka” Tyrone Spoelstra

Tiger Woods “aka” Tont Harmon

Brett Favre “aka” Lorenzo Childress

Maria Sharapova “aka” Yuryevna Landsdrop

Candace parker “aka” Nicole Gillom

Michelle Wie “aka” Sung Leadbetter

(LeBron James committed to Kentucky… as a fan)

Last Saturday, Kentucky played Vanderbilt in Lexington, which usually isn’t news worthy. But on this particular day the Wildcats had a special guest fan sitting courtside… LeBron Raymore James.

So what exactly is the connection between James and Kentucky Basketball? Here’s the scoop…

LeBron’s good buddy and advisor, William Wesley, aka World Wide Wes, was with James at Rupp Arena on Saturday. Apparently World Wide Wes is also a good friend and advisor to John Calipari. WWW advises Calipari on the top high school talent in the country through his connections and associations with various summer camps and AAU teams. Basically, WWW is an unofficial scout for Kentucky Basketball now that Calipari is their head coach.

Some would call that cheating, but I believe Calipari is just a great networker with a better Rolodex than most college basketball coaches (remember, Calipari got a call from the President last week at well).

WWW is also tight with several other current and former NBA stars including Derrick Rose, Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson. WWW is not a household name, but in the basketball world, he’s the node that connects high school to college to NBA basketball (remember, Derrick Rose was a standout freshman at Memphis when Calipari was the coach there).

WWW is also an advisor and mentor for Kentucky’s superstar point guard, John Wall, who we’ve highlighted several times in the past. As a matter of fact we did a post about LeBron’s assessment of Wall as a player titled, “Lebron on Wall.” It’s worth noting that Wall had committed verbally to Memphis until Calipari left for Kentucky, which shows how influential WWW has been on Wall’s basketball career.

Back to LeBron.

I believe the reason the James gang was in Lexington was to evaluate Wall in person. I believe LeBron is interested in playing with Wall in the NBA and wanted to scout him in person. I won’t fuel the fire like I did with my post last November titled, “LeBron Staying in Cleveland? Ha!” but it seems odd that LeBron would be scouting a college player who the Cavs have no chance of acquiring. However, and yes I’m going there, the Net are projected to have the 1st pick in the draft and could easily snatch up LeBron and a few other highly-touted, unrestricted free agents, which would make them an instant contender. Also consider the fact that LeBron’s best friend, Jay-Z, is part owner of the Nets along with Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. I would also be remissed not to mention that Z and Prokhorov have plans to move the Nets to Brooklyn soon. Just saying.

In addition to the WWW, Calipari and John Wall connections, LeBron has created a specially designed shoe just for the Wildcats. Kentucky and Akron (LeBron’s hometown) are the only two schools to get specially designed shoes (check out the shoes in the pictures below).

And finally, to close the loop, Calipari just hired Brandon Weems, who played with LeBron at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. Weems became a graduate student manager for UK this year and remains extremely close to James.

So there you have it. LeBron’s connection to Kentucky basketball is vast and deep. He’s closer to UK than most of their biggest boosters. Like it or not, it’s gotta be good to be a Kentucky fan these days.
