Former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and Georgia Tech football program, Chan Gailey, has been hired on as the new head coach of the Buffalo Bills (my favorite team name coming out of Shannon Sharpe’s mouth).

Ex-Steelers coach Bill Cowher was lead horse for the job and apparently heaped praise upon Gaily while rejecting the offer. Cowher had planned to make Gailey his assistant head coach and offensive coordinator had he taken the job, instead Gailey will get his second shot as a head coach in the NFL after 15 seasons in the league.

His first head coaching stint was 1998-99 when he was lead man for the Cowboys. They made the playoffs both seasons he was at the helm but were unable to come up with a “W” when they got there. From 2002-07 he was head coach for the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech, making a bowl game in all 6 seasons. Other than that there’s not much we can report on Gailey, other than he has a slightly funny last name and judging from the picture we found is probably a grumpy neighbor.

A press conference will take place today at 2 p.m. ET to shed some light on the new hire.

UPDATE ALERT: The NFL has come down with a stiff fine for Bud Adams this week, citing him $250,000.00 for “conduct detrimental to the NFL.” Wow, didn’t know you could take a quarter million dollars from a man for flipping someone off in his own luxury suite… The “No Fun League” prevails again!

Yesterday the Tennessee Titans beat the snot bubbles out of the Buffalo Bills, 41-17. While coasting to the obvious victory Titans owner, Bud Adams, kicked a Buffalo while it was down, giving the Buffalo sidelines a taste of the ol’ one finger salute. Bud didn’t just flip the boys from Buffalo off, he gave them a right bird, a left bird, another right, and then capped it off with a double (above video is the only one currently available, apologies for the soundtrack). He’s also wearing a baby blue suit, which makes it that much more demeaning.

Today Bud apologized for the gesture, saying he will accept any punishment the NFL deems fit. First off, he’s not sorry for what he did, he’s sorry he got caught on tape. Second, Roger Goodell (Mr. Uppity himself) was actually in the press box with him during the show of sportsmanship. Falcons’ coach Mike Smith was fined $15,000.00 last week for his role in a sideline scuffle so you can assume Bud Adams’ pockets are gonna’ be hit pretty hard in the upcoming days.

Stay classy, Bud!
