NCAA Lax Tourney Underway

We’re through one round of the NCAA Tourney and already some of Lacrosse’s giants have fallen. On one side of the bracket the Maryland Terrapins have emerged as top-dog, defeating Hofsta and kicking back in their recliners to watch Goliaths Princeton and Syracuse go down to Notre Dame and Army respectively. They’ll face the gritty ND squad for a chance to play the winner between Army and Cornell in the Final Four.

Meeting them at Princeton Field this weekend will be North Carolina and Duke (hey ESPN, how about a little “rivalry” hype-up on SportsCenter before this weekend’s match ups…?). They’ll play for the right to face the winner between #1 ranked Virginia and #8 Stony Brook, a.k.a. the chance to play #1 ranked Virginia (sorry Stony Brook, no chance).

SportsBore’s Championship Pick: Maryland Terrapins

The #3 ranked Maryland squad has the typical Terrapin defense the school has come to be known for. They feature two All-American long poles wearing “Schmidt” on their name-plate (of no relation, other than brothers from other mothers), one of which has an All-American moustache. They also proved to have an offense ta’ boot, tallying 35 goals in their final two regular season games. Fear the Turtle.
