Duke Wins Lax Championship

Author: Junior

The Duke Blue Devils took Cinderella’s shoe and stabbed her in the eye with it yesterday when long-pole FOGO (face-off, get off) C.J. Costabile scored the game winner just five seconds into overtime. Their opponent, Notre Dame, came into the tournament with an unassuming 7-6 record and little hope, though nearly stole the show after defeating a gauntlet of top-tier squads in the first three rounds and taking Duke into extra time.

It’s the Duke programs first championship despite being at the top of the heap throughout the past half-decade. It’s a shining moment for a program that’s endured so much, including two 1-goal losses in national championship games and a cancelled 2006 season after false rape accusations. Congrats to the Blue Devils on their championship season.
