UPDATE: Jay Glazer is reporting that Rex Ryan was being vigorously heckled and and even spat at when he extended his one-finger salute to a fan at last weeks ‘Strikeforce: Miami’ event. Glazer was with Ryan at the event and had this to say about the altercation:

“I’ve gotta tell you guys, I’ve never seen a fan go so far over the line…  I think to fine the guy 50 grand is the most ridiculous thing.  If (Jets GM) Mike Tannenbaum or (owner) Woody Johnson was there, they would have hit the guy… I mean it was unbelievable, and he just kept going on and on. Then he said, ‘I hate you. I hope you die, you fat piece of crap,’ and then spit at him.”

Sounds like some drunk fan got less than he deserved. If you’re an NFL coach you can expect to be heckled when going into enemy territory, but no man should ever expect to be spat on, or even towards. Kudos to Ryan for not gettin’ all sorts of crazy up in that bitch.
