Derek Anderson lets the Dawg Pound have it

Author: Junior

After being released from the black hole Cleveland this past Tuesday, Derek Anderson had some choice words for the fans that boo’ed him through his play and cheered him through his injuries the past 5 seasons. In an e-mail to the Willoughby News-Herald he had this to say of the Cleveland faithful:

“The fans are ruthless and don’t deserve a winner… I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured… I know at times I wasn’t great. I hope and pray I’m playing when my team comes to town and [we] roll them.”

As a die hard Browns fan (now all my skeletons are out of the closet) I have to admit, yeah, we probably deserved that… I’d also like to point out that Derek is obviously very familiar with the Browns franchise as he wasted no time “praying” that his next team would beat the Browns, but simply that he would be starting when the inevitable defeat does come.

None the less, DA has already expressed regret for the sound bite:

“I said some things to [News-Herald reporter] Jeff Schudel earlier that I regret. Those of you who got to know me personally from covering the Browns over the past five years, know this was out of character for me. I wasn’t taken out of context, but I was speaking out of frustration after my career with the Browns came to a close.”

Derek Anderson was a Pro Bowl quarterback in 2007 throwing for 3,787 yards and 29 touchdowns, but his proven success at the position was no match for Brady Quinn’s 6-pack and adorable dimples. I’m upset about this too, DA. I hope Randy Lerner trips down an escalator.
