Child Please

Author: Stretch

Earlier this week Jets head coach, Rex Ryan, claimed that his team should be the favorites in the “tournament.” I assume he meant playoffs, but that’s just nit-picking. Semantics aside, his Jets backed up their coach’s words beating the Bengals in Cincinnati 24-14. The first-round playoff loss is nothing new for the Bengals, but the first-round win is definitely something new for the New York. The Jets last playoff win was on Jan. 8, 2005 in the AFC Wild Card game (N.Y. Jets 20, San Diego 17 OT).

So while Rex Ryan, Mark Sanchez and the rest of the Jets  organization celebrate and get ready for Indy next week the Bengals will spend another off-season at home.

An interesting sub-plot to the Jets/Bengals match-up was the rivalry between Chad Ochocinco and Darrelle Revis. Last week, during the last regular-season game, Revis shut Ochocinco down completely for zero catches. After that game, Ochocinco promised that if Revis shut him down again this week, he’d change his name back to Chad Johnson. Well, Revis held Johnson to 2 catches for 28 yards but also had a crucial first-half interception. I don’t know if Ochocinco is going to make good on his promise but it doesn’t really matter because Revis will be playing next week and Johnson will be watching Revis sitting on his couch.

Rex Ryan talked-big during his press conference last week and his team backed him up. They won. Chad Johnson laughed at the idea of Revis shutting him down two games in a row. All I have to say is, Child… Please.
