I wasted 30 minutes of my life tonight watching the NBA dunk contest. Nate Robinson won his third straight dunk contest and I don’t even remember who the other dunkers were. I can’t imagine how pissed the fans there were. If I had spent a few hundred dollars to be there in person I would have booed, very loudly.
It’s a shame the NBA can’t get better players and put on a better show. I did a post a few weeks ago titled, “The Dunk Contest Needs Stars” and apparently David Stern didn’t read it. He probably should have because we could have saved him some embarrassment.
The contest was so bad that Charles Barkley and the boys on TNT made fun of how lame it was during the telecast. The entire show was just sad. I should have known better and watched the curling quarterfinals at the Olympics instead. I’ll keep that in mind in 2014. Fuck you David Stern.

terrible. gerald wallace does a dunk that wouldn’t be impressive in a game, shannon brown does a dunk where he switches hands…incredible. david stern should just offer 50,000 to charity in the name of the winner and put the big names in it. everyone is worried about injury, when was the last time someone got hurt in the dunk contest? Did Julius Erving tear his ACL jumping from the foul line? Did VC break his arm putting his elbow in the rim? Come on.

If I were David Stern I would give them nosebleed seats and tell them if they’re not in the contest, they’re not sitting courtside. Then I’d give the tickets to underprivliged kids and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

I agree with you and phat-smurf… I smell NBA conspiracy. The only way I can justify how bad the NBA dunk contest was is to consider that they purposely made it bad by inviting un-talented dunkers so they can guilt-trip LeBron and Co. next year.
