Andray Blatche – Taking a “Me Day”

Author: Junior

As if Wizards fans haven’t gone through enough this year, Tuesday night their best remaining player came off the court and would not return. Andray Blatche wasn’t injured or too tired to continue, he simply “didn’t want to play.” Halfway through the first quarter coach Flip Saunders called his starting forward to the bench to discuss getting back on defense, as a result, Blatche wouldn’t even get back on the hardwood.

An excerpt from the Washington Post:

Saunders said his assistants attempted to talk to Blatche about the situation multiple times but that Blatche’s response was “he just didn’t want to play.”

“I’m disappointed. I’m the most disappointed I’ve ever been in 15 years with a player,” Saunders said. “Most disappointed.”

Flip has coached Rasheed Wallace, Latrell Sprewell and Stephon Marbury, so that’s a strong statement. If I was a Wizards fan I would probably just stop heading to the Verizon Center for a while, things aren’t getting any better and I’ve got a feeling God is one step away from inventing indoor lightning just for you guys…
