Allen Iverson – Crash and Burn

Author: Junior

We were left with the impression that one of the league’s greatest scorers simply no longer had the cross-over to warrant a starting spot on a NBA rooster and was too proud to come off the bench. As it turns out, Allen Iverson’s problems extend well beyond the hardwood…

Multiple NBA sources suggested Monday that Iverson is suffering from severe drinking and gambling problems (what man doesn’t?) in a Stephen A. Smith article published in the Philadelphia Inquire. The column would go on to say that if something isn’t done the 4-time NBA scoring champ “will either drink himself into oblivion or gamble his life away.”

Last week the 76ers announced Iverson would not be returning to the team for the rest of the season and later that day his wife of 8 1/2 years, Tawana Iverson, would file for divorce and seek full custody of their 5 children. When it rains it pours.

We at the Bore wish there was more to laugh at, but to be honest this story is mostly just sad and depressing. Hopefully Iverson doesn’t become the next broke ex-NBA star collecting appearance fees at snobby white girls’ sweet sixteen parties. More on the story as it unfolds.

  1. I’m running Firefox at my home pc but right now I’m at a friend’s house looking at your site with Internet Explorer and every thing is messed up. Does anyone else see this problem or is my pc broken?

Sad but is it really surprising? The guy has been in trouble since high school. His skills on the basketball courts just make it easy to forget what kind of guy he is. Not a bad person, just someone who has trouble with self-control.
