The on again, off again super-fight drama between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao continued today. The rub has been drug-testing procedures and Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s rep, has used that as a crutch for his client. Yesterday Arum messaged that the fight was off (again) after intense negotiation. He claimed that Mayweather’s unwillingness to change his stance on drug-testing was the reason. Today Mayweather cleared the air.
“Throughout this whole process I have remained patient but at this point I am thoroughly disgusted that Pacquiao and his representatives are trying to blame me for the fight not happening when clearly the blame is on them,” Mayweather said in a statement.
Mayweather continued, “Before the mediation, my team proposed a 14-day, no blood testing window leading up to the fight. But it was rejected,” Mayweather said. “I am still proposing the 14-day window but he is still unwilling to agree to it, even though this is obviously a fair compromise on my part as I wanted the testing to be up until the fight and he wanted a 30 day cut-off. The truth is he just doesn’t want to take the tests.
“In my opinion it is Manny Pacquiao and his team who are denying the people a chance to see the biggest fight ever. I know the people will see through their smokescreens and lies. I am ready to fight and sign the contract. Manny needs to stop making his excuses, step up and fight.”
Seems crystal clear to me! Mayweather has been calling Team Pacquiao out all along and has not backed down one bit. He’s not afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao, he just wants to ensure the fight is clean. Keep in mind, Mayweather is a heavy favorite to win, so the notion that he is dodging Pacquiao is a joke.
Bob Arum is a piece of shit. Manny Pacquiao is an idiot. And as far as I’m concerned, if Pacquiao doesn’t fight Mayweather on March 13 then he goes down in history as the drug-abusing, pussy who dodged Mayweather Jr. Simple as that.
do you know the history of manny’ refusal? In the morales fight – which he lost, they took blood form him 2 days before the fight. ever since he has developed a phobia for blood testing. call it psychological but this affects his psyche as part of fight preparation. Despite this he has been willing to have blood taken as he did before the hatton fight – 24 days and he is sticking to this. But before all this talk is this really the proper way for mayweather to address his suspicion? if he is really serious he needs to petition the Nevada comission to set the groundwork. why is he not doing this? necause the nevada comission will most likely ask for some proof. and he has NOTHING! NOTHING. In the meantime the proof or history that we can always come back to is mayweathers history of dodging fighters that he thinks he will lose to. THERE IS EVIDENCe OF THAT AND HE IS DOING IT AGAIN!!!!
