Today Tim Lincecum became the first pitcher since Randy Johnson to win back-to-back Cy Young awards. He also became the first pitcher to win a Cy Young Award in a season with only 15 wins. Despite not having many “W’s,” controversy can hardly rear its ugly head as Lincecum led the league in strikeouts, quality starts, and was second in the league in ERA. He was no doubt the most dominant pitcher in the MLB, as well as the grooviest.
The good news doesn’t end there for Tim, as this off-season his contract is expected to go from $650,000 a year to right around $10,000,000 a year. Congrats Tim, go buy a quarter and celebrate.
