This past Saturday the “charitable” Tim Tebow set up a signing booth in a Florida mall to scribble down some autographs and pose for pictures with the fans that have supported and cheered him on over the past four years. So long as they could afford it, that is…

That’s right, if you wanted the All-American poster boy’s John Hancock you had to show up with your checkbook or a wad of lettuce to the tune of $160, plus $75 for the photo op. Yup, Tim Tebow is pulling a Pete Rose, but I guess it’s cool since an article on his foundation’s website explained, “some of the proceeds from this event will help to jump start the Tebow Foundation.” Apparently that was enough retribution for the 1,500 Gator fans that showed up to get ripped off.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m more offended that someone would put a charitable facade over an autograph signing. Not to mention the “Tim Tebow Foundation” has one of the most ambiguous mission statements I’ve ever read:

“The Tim Tebow Foundation exists to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”

That’s somewhere between “The Tim Tebow foundation, distributing warm-fuzzies to those having a bad frickin’ day” and “TTF, giving resources to the needy and then pushing our religious beliefs on them.”

Questions that remain:

What does giving someone hope, faith, and love mean exactly?

How does the couple hundred-thousand dollars Tebow just extracted from the Gator faithful work its way into the picture?

How much is “some”…?

How the hell is Tim Tebow getting away with this without a PR boo boo?
