(Weis fighting off angry boosters and fans)
Update: Staff at Notre Dame has been informed that Charlie Weis will be fired from his position as head coach of the Notre Dame football program. Weis lasted five seasons at ND and lead them to a mediocre 6-6 season this year.
The players are attending a players meeting later this afternoon to vote on whether or not they want to go to a bowl game, which may just provide one more reason for fans to want to punch those kids in the face.
The official word has not yet come from athletic director Jack Swarbrick, though it’s safe to say (as it has been for weeks in our opinion) that Weis and his fupa will be leaving South Bend, and he’ll be paid millions for it.
The guillotine is ready to fall on Notre Dame head football coach Charlie Weis. Speculation over the coaches’ future has been a focus in sports media of late as the ND football program continues to redefine “rock bottom” week after week with heart-wrenching defeats to less storied programs.
Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick recently spoke on his radio show “The Jack Swarbrick Show” on WLS-AM 890 about the big guy’s future:
“[The announcement of Weis' future] will certainly be within the following week. Last year if I’m not mistaken, Coach Weis and I met on Tuesday to sort of review the season and evaluate the program. While I believe word sort of filtered out on Tuesday, we didn’t make a formal announcement until Wednesday. I don’t know that it will be exactly the same, but it will be within the week.”
This comes after Swarbrick explained that Weis would not be extending his trip to California this weekend when they play Stanford, a recruiting trip Weis has traditionally made in past seasons.
We may have had beef with ol’ Chuck in the past, but truth be told Weis has been very candid in saying that a six win season is not acceptable for a Notre Dame football team. If he can exit with that kind of grace he may relinquish the top spot on the d-bag coaches list to this guy. Good luck, Chuck.

weis has gotta go! need a guy like the one coaching the OPPOSING team this weekend
Gotta be tough coaching a team when you know it’s your last season. I would feel bad for the guy but he’s going to get fired and then get $18 million to leave… so I don’t feel bad for him at all!
lol weis sucks! way to close out the season!!! i mean he had to pick up at least ONE of the last few games for them to justify keeping him. adios charlie
