(Pssssssssst… Paul is 27 years-old)
So you’re sitting in a cubicle right now. Your boss looks more like Bill Lumbergh than Gordon Gekko, and no matter how hard you work, or how much better you are than the next guy, he never seems pleased. So what do you do now?
Quit that shit-bag job and go back to school. But don’t just go back to school, go back to school and play college hoops! That’s what Paul Darkwa did.
Darkwa is a 27 year-old freshman at Wright State University. He is also a forward on the men’s basketball team. That’s correct, WSU has a 27 year-old freshman basketball player on its team, making him (obviously) the oldest freshman in college hoops.
To put this in perspective, consider the fact that Darkwa is two years old than LeBron James, and LeBron is a 7th NBA veteran. Darkwa is also older than Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and John Wooden (actually he’s not quite as old as Wooden).
Paul Darkwa, a 6-foot-7, 26-year-old Navy veteran from Ghana who has lived in the United States since he was nine, first in New Jersey, then Southern California, where he went to Ramona High School in Riverside, suburban Los Angeles.
Darkwa was thinking of college when Francis Ebong encouraged him. “I’ve been in the Navy almost eight years. I found out you need to be educated, no matter what you’re doing.”
We’ll see if Darkwa can help WSU (20-11) make the Big Dance. If not, he has another 3 years to make it happen, at which time he’ll be a 30 year-old senior. Awesome.

That guy is almost as old as me! Smart bastard!
