BYU and the Mountain West conference don’t get much love here at the Bore – mostly ’cause polygamists creep us out – but now that they’ve taken a break from their mission trips and and U-19 wedding circuit to talk shit with opposing coaches they’ve got our attention.

After playing in a physical first-place conference game with New Mexico, BYU senior Jonathan Tavernari had some words for New Mexico coach Steve Alford. In a display of hilarious immaturity coach Alford followed Tavernari down the post-game hand shake line screaming profanities in his face, because ending the conference championship dreams of a bunch of 20-year-olds wasn’t gratifying enough…

The root of the altercation is unknown though it’s being reported that Tavernari went into the New Mexico locker room afterwards to apologize to coach Alford, who replied with a grin, “You know you’re one of my favorites…”
