Good news MMA junkies, another season of TUF is upon us…

Welterweight champ Georges St Pierre and number-one-contender Josh Koscheck will coach opposite each other before battling it out in the cage in December. Before they’re able to punch each other in the face they’ll be evaluating talent in episode two at 10 pm ET on Spike. It’s the second week of qualifying fights, where the 32 fighters duke it out for the chance to be one of the final 16 in the house. It also gives GSP and Kos a chance to scoop out the best talent before making team selections and beginning the tournament to find the next 155 lb. Ultimate Fighter.

If you were a fan of TUF 10 contestant and YouTube phenomenon Kimbo Slice you may fancy lightweight “Bruce Leroy” this season. Dana White’s already said he’s one of his favorites and the ‘fro repping 20-year-old won us over with the backyard performance above. Uh oh, it can’t get much worse for boxing great Ricky Hatton. It was just three years ago when “the Hitman” was a top the boxing world at 43-0, then he was TKO’d by pound-for-pound champ Floyd Mayweather and knocked cold again three fights later by Filipino wrecking machine Manny Pacquiao. As we all know, if you aren’t one of the top two names in boxing than no one gives a shit about you, so Hatton’s responded to our disinterest by spending all that pay-per-view money on buggar-sugar and frat sodas. Apparently it’s gotten so bad that a female friend of his video taped the British slugger snorting a few lines of coke in a hotel bathroom… and then sold it to the tabloid savages. What a pal.

It’s bad enough getting knocked out in front of your family and friends, but choke slammed by the ref? Yikes. Can’t seem to find any empathy for the fella though, he appeared to deserved it. Either way that ref ought to take off the zebra suit and put on some gloves. Bad-assness.

Few stars shine brighter than pitching sensation Kenny Powers. He’s brash, he’s handsome, and he knows it. Listen in as he and his assistant use the gift of gab during a real-deal, suit & tie negotiation with the higher-ups at K-Swiss. Also look for Kenny to bring Eastbound & Down back to HBO for a second season on September 26th. Hellz yeah!

Kudos to Uriah Faber on his cameo as well. Gotta’ love the mainstream MMA exposure coming from Funny or Die – where interns are literally forced to kill themselves if they can’t make a Gary Busy joke on command. Which is less stringent than the NHL’s facial hair policy when you think about it, so don’t feel so bad.

Yeah, she’s decent… And she doesn’t mind getting a little blood splattered on her either. Or at least she co-hosts ESPN’s MMA Live every week, which in no way should allow us to ensue that she has some sort of blood fetish. Regardless, whatever the fetish, I’m in Molly. Seriously. My two favorite sports are without a doubt  football and MMA, so you’d figure I am the Fight Football League’s (FFL) target demographic. Wrong, because it’s a retarded idea. Would I drive 15 minutes and pay $10 to see it live? Absolutely. Would I watch it on TV? Not if there’s a re-run of It’s Always Sunny playing. None the less the spectacle is worth a quick glance so enjoy watching some highlights and trying to figure out what the hell the rules are.

It took less than 15 seconds for Randy Couture to put James Toney on his ass, and apparently boxers are no good at throwing punches off their back. Couture landed easily into full mount and spent a few minutes softening up the already soft Toney with punches and elbows before slapping on an arm-triangle choke and forcing the future boxing hall of famer to submit before going to sleep in front of 20,000 laughing fans. That has to be almost as embarrassing as accidentally showing your ass crack on national TV. I guess that solves this whole boxing vs MMA thing…

In the main event of the evening Frankie Edgar defended his belt against the man most consider to be the best lightweight ever, BJ Penn. Edgar was able to use his in-and-out boxing and wrestling to tilt the score cards well in his favor, earning a unanimous decision over the Hilo native for a second time. The Jersey boys next opponent is the only man to ever beat him in the promotion, Gray “Bully” Maynard. Maynard also fought and won in Boston against two-time number-one contender Kenny Florian.

Stockton troubled youth Nate Diaz whooped some more of that ass too, beyatches. He put Marcus Davis to work for two and a half rounds before making him uglier than a hunchback and chocking him unconscious. The two earned “Fight of the Night” honors, which comes with a pat on the back and $60,000 bonus. Not a bad day at the office.

Here’s what the boss had to say about the promotions first trip to Boston:

Future boxing hall of famer James Toney is stepping into the cage against MMA legend Randy Couture with nothing but 4 oz. gloves and 30 lbs. of body fat. Spike TV featured the weigh-ins yesterday in which Toney tipped the scales seventeen pounds grander than Couture, but not before flashing his ass like a plumber to the entire viewing public (picture after the jump if you’re a masochist). It seems like just yesterday when Toney was screaming into cameras incoherently, threatening Dana White’s life for the chance to fight in the Octagon, and holy shit the time has come.

The “Boxing vs. MMA” bout has taken a lot of steam from the title fight that’ll be taking place afterward. BJ Penn is on a quest to regain the belt that got taken away by current champ Frankie Edgar just months ago in Abu Dhabi. Edgar, whose victory over BJ is considered one of the biggest upsets in MMA history, comes in as underdog again looking to use his in-and-out boxing to win a tough decision. BJ, meanwhile, has expressed the desire to knock Frankie out with a head slam… crazy Hawaiian.

That body screams “world-class athlete.”

Forrest Griffin has been one of the most endearing fighters in UFC history since blasting on the scene at TUF 1. He made us laugh with his interviews and believe with his fights, submitting Shogun Rua and out scoring Rampage Jackson for the 205 lb. Championship. He would eventually lose the belt to Rashad Evans after controlling the opening rounds of action, but then something terrible happened… Anderson Silva moved up twenty pounds in weight and clowned Griffin like a school yard bully. After the beating Forrest chose to run out of the Octagon to the locker room like an embarrassed 7th grader that had a boner at the chalk board.

Months later Forrest would beat up Tito Ortiz, which is the obvious equation to snapping out of depression. We’re pleased to see the man’s back to doing what he does best, making fun of himself. Look at the gifs after the jump to make sense of the interview… It was pretty sad.

It was brilliant enough that someone caught 155 lb. fighter Roger Huerta humbling some stupid thug on the streets of Austin with their camera phone. But the story got even saucier when Cagewriter reported that the thug was in fact an ex-Longhorn pig-skinner. Go figure, they have wildly short fuses.

TMZ caught up with Huerta who recounted the events:

“I just don’t think that it’s right to hit a woman. Period,” Huerta told TMZ.

“I approached the man calmly and said, ‘Do you know what you just did?  You just knocked out this girl.’

But Huerta claims the other guy responded, “[Expletive] you, [expletive] these bitches, I’ll knock out any [expletive] bitch that I wanna [expletive] knock out, I’ll knock your [expletive] bitch ass out.”

Huerta added, “… and as he’s saying this, he’s taking off his shirt … and at that point I was like, alright.’ I got the better of him and I left,” Huerta said.

The 27-year-old explained, “If that was my mom, if that was my sister, my spouse, anyone … I would’ve wanted someone to step in and do something about it.”

We need an unassuming MMA fighter duking it out for justice at every street corner. Hopefully Dana can pull Huerta back under the UFC umbrella now that he’s made some new fans Kimbo-style.
