BYU and the Mountain West conference don’t get much love here at the Bore – mostly ’cause polygamists creep us out – but now that they’ve taken a break from their mission trips and and U-19 wedding circuit to talk shit with opposing coaches they’ve got our attention.
At 7’7″, Paul Sturgess is college basketball’s tallest player. Actually, Sturgess is the tallest basketball player in the United States period (Yao Ming is a mere 7’6″).
There are two dominant teams this year in NCAA hoops, and they both lost today. First, #2 Kentucky got dropped at Tennessee, 65-74. Then, just a few hours later, #1 Kansas got bitched at Oklahoma State, 77-85.
No one could have guessed the shot of the year would come from Murry State freshman Isaiah Canaan. With the shot clock running down and no other option Canaan heaved the ball from his knees at mid court.
There doesn’t seem to be a dominant team in NCAA hoops this year… and I love it. The Opening Round of March Madness is only a month away (March 16th) so we thought now was a good time to start paying attention to college basketball (let’s face it, for the most part, the college basketball regular season blows).
The dance consists mostly of flexing and being awesome and, as you’ll see in the video, has spread from Bluegrass country to the pyramids of Egypt to the Great Wall of China… making the dance more cultured than you could ever dream of.
We’ve always assumed that Chuck Hayes had the worst free throw shot in competitive basketball, and on a consistent basis that’s probably true, but for at least one trip to the line Kansas’ Brady Morningstar was on his level.
Last Saturday Kentucky played Vanderbilt, which usually isn’t news worthy. But on this particular day the Wildcats had a special guest-fan sitting court-side… LeBron James. So what is the connection between James and Kentucky?
