(Marcus Jordans twitter page, doucheyness at first and last tweets)

Michael Jordan is the greatest to ever step on the court, unfortunately his kids are only OK. But apparently they have inherited one of their fathers traits, a Las Vegas spending addiction. Jordan is famous for his gambling binges in the Sin City and it seems Marcus, a to-be sophomore at UCF, is just like daddy:

“Last night was stupid… 35k at Haze… Totals 50k something the whole day.. Damn!! Going to the pool again today.. Gotta relax!”

Yeah that’s right, Marcus Jordan – the source of Central Florida’s problems with ex-sponsor Adidas - spent a whole lot of daddy’s loot. Why are you gonna’ wear those intelligent looking glasses if you can’t add up 35 and 21? Well thank God the folks at the Chicago Tribune can, and it’s 56. Like $56,000 spent in one day by a sophomore in college. Maybe he’s got a paper route?

P.J. Hairston is no King James or Black Mamba, but he may have the most impressive trick shot of all. The North Carolina recruit was caught draining a behind the backer from the free throw line at the NBPA Top 100 camp Saturday. Not impressed? The other free throw line… Yeah, Hairston knocked down a 75-foot no-looker with one hand. I don’t think he called swoosh though. Nearly as impressive as the shot was Hairston’s “who cares?” reaction. Way to act like you’ve been there before, PJ, you could teach these “mother duckers” a thing or two.

It didn’t take a crystal ball to guess the UConn ladies basketball team was going to capture the NCAA championship. Geno Auriemma and the Huskie squad extended their winning streak to 78 (39-0 this season) and won their second consecutive NCAA championship yesterday against Stanford 53-47.

Okay, time to poop on their parade… All this proves to me is that Geno Auriemma, a man, is without a doubt the best coach in women’s college basketball. In the end though my beef’s got nothing to do with the sex or skill of the athletes and coaches but instead the competitive landscape of women’s basketball, or lack there of. There’s nothing entertaining about watching a game where the conclusion is never in question, and considering last night was the first time a team got within ten points of the Huskies this season we know there were no classic buzzer beaters, no down to the wire finishes and plenty of bench play in the second half.

None the less congrats to UConn and Geno Auriemma on winning their second national championship in a row!

Last night the Duke Blue Devils took Cinderella’s slipper and beat her over the head with it. Hometown underdogs Butler came up just short of earning their first national championship since the tournament format was created, eventually losing 61-59 in a game that never saw a margin greater than 6 points.

In his eight championship appearance the narcoleptic Coach K cemented his legacy as one of the greatest coaches of all time. On top of leading team USA to a gold medal Krzyzewski has now won his fourth national championship at Duke in a career spanning three decades. Coach K is adored in Durham and with good reason, here are some fun facts about the future hall of fame coach courtesy of ESPN:

- His four national championships tie him for second with Rupp. Only Wooden won more national titles, winning 10 at UCLA from 1964-75.

- His 11 Final Four appearances are tied with Smith for second-most among coaches. Wooden guided UCLA teams to 12 Final Fours

- He has coached in 19 Final Four games, tied with Smith for second-most, and his 12 Final Four wins are second only to Wooden’s 21 victories.

- He holds the NCAA tournament record for winning percentage (.778, 77-22) and is first in tourney history with 77 victories and 99 games coached.

- He is the first coach to win national championships in three consecutive decades (1991, ’92, ’01 and ’10).

- Under his guidance, Duke has played more games ranked as the No. 1 team (190) than it has as an unranked team (144).

- At some point in the next two seasons, Krzyzewski will probably surpass Knight as major college basketball’s winningest coach. His 868 career victories are 34 behind Knight, his coach at the United States Military Academy from 1966 to ’69.

Congrats to Duke and Coach K on another championship and huge kudos to the Butler Bulldogs and their 14-year-old coach for keeping things interesting!

We may get our real life Hoosiers story after all… Butler was able to top Michigan State 52-50 – typical Midwest shootout – and one seed Duke toppled West Virginia 78-57. West Virginia’s MVP Da’Sean Butler tore his left ACL with 9 minutes remaining which lead to an intimate and super awkward player-coach moment (1:10 mark), but a healthy Da’Sean wouldn’t have made the difference.

Tonight Butler and Duke will meet to decide the national championship at 9:30 pm ET on CBS. Check in to see the future players of this epic squad battle it out. It’s a true David vs Goliath finish and worth tuning in to see if the home town Cinderella can pull off the upset!

Buckeye Junior Evan Turner ran away with the AP player of the year award today garnering 54 of the 65 media member’s votes. SportsBore stud John Wall finished a distant second with 9 votes and for some reason Luke Harangody got a vote as well… Wtf?

The 6’7″ Turner was a beast for the Buckeyes, averaging over 20 points and 9 rebounds per game. After suffering multiple broken back bones earlier this season it’s doubtful the genetically gifted athlete will make his return for a senior year, but after a relatively disappointing finish in the NCAA tourney and another solid class of incoming freshman recruits fans still have reason to keep their fingers crossed…

(“Watch 48 more hours of video tape! Gain another ten pounds! That’s how ya get ready for Sunday.”)

Coaches blowing up in post-game press conferences are one of YouTube’s greatest assets. Every time a coach screams and shouts in front of cameras ESPN plasters the hot mess all over SportsCenter, and if your name isn’t Bob Knight the screams and gyrations will probably define your career.

This is my favorite post-game blow up of all because the risk/reward was terribly evaluated, or perhaps ignored completely. Jim Mora and Bob Knight can get away with a few unflattering press clippings, but a women’s college basketball coach should probably leave that fire in the locker room… It’s kind of like how we all moved on when Shaq slugged Brad Miller (or tried) in a game because he went on to become a 4-time NBA Champion, but Elizabeth Lambert will unfortunately always be that crazy psycho that punched an opponent no matter what she accomplishes in women’s soccer. In a similar way Kevin Borseth will always be the women’s b-ball coach that flipped out aimlessly for two minutes about boxing out and gaining weight. I also love the clip because it seems to dawn on coach Borseth at the very end that he shouldn’t have done what he just did, and maybe he won’t have a job in the morning, “I’m not going to sleep.”

Look for more outrageous coach clippings in the near future!

Last weekend the Butler University Bulldogs made school history by beating #2 seed Kansas State. This will be the Butler's first trip to the Final Four in school history.

Last weekend the Butler University Bulldogs made school history by beating #2 seed Kansas State. This will be the Butler’s first trip to the Final Four in school history. To make things even sweeter, the Bulldogs will be playing in front of a home crowd in Indianapolis. Butler is truly a Cinderella story.

But there’s even more to Butler’s story.

As I mentioned, Butler University is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Anyone who follows sports knows that Indiana is a basketball state with a deep, rich tradition. Larry Bird, Bobby Knight, Calbert Cheaney, Shawn Kemp, Kenny Lofton, Oscar Robertson, Chuck Taylor and John Wooden are all famous Hoosier Hoopsters.

In addition to real life basketball legends, Indiana inspired arguably the greatest sports movie of all time, Hoosiers. Hoosiers is the story of a small, rural high school basketball team (Hickory) that wins the Indiana state basketball championship. Hickory High, coached by Norman Dale (Gene Hackman), was undersized and out-maned, but they overcome their underdog status to win the 1951 Indiana state basketball tournament.

Don’t worry, I’m gettting to my point. So, the championship game in the movie was filmed at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, which is Butler’s home court. When it was built in 1928 it was the largest basketball arena in the country and retained that distinction until 1950. Hinkle Fieldhouse is a legendary arena that still carries on the legend of Norman Dale and Jimmy Chitwood.

So far the Bulldogs have taken the same path as Hickory High. Now we’ll just have to wait and see if they can finish the deal. I for one hope they do because college sports could use a real life Hoosiers story.

We’ve finally reached the Final Four and your bracket’s busted up like a Vegas hooker. Three Midwest Cinderellas and one power-house remain and they’ll begin to sort things out this Saturday in Indianapolis.

The lone remaining one-seed Duke Blue Devils face a gritty West Virginia squad that just bounced SportsBore favorite John Wall and his Kentucky team. On the other side of the bracket Butler and Michigan State face each other in a battle of five seeds. If Butler and Duke advance it will be the most caucasian championship since those dudes from Glory Road broke down the color barrier, plus it’d be the second most lopsided championship match-up I’ve ever seen.

There’s also no doubt CBS is praising the basketball gods for getting the Blue Devils past Baylor last night, and despite hating Duke along with the rest of the country I’ve got to admit, I’m pretty happy about it too. Do I want to see Duke win their 4th championship running through West Virginia and Butler? No. But watching three Cinderella’s trying to knock off a Goliath is certainly better than watching four Cinderella’s playing each other for a championship… I’ve already seen that song and dance, it’s called the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. Take Duke out of this thing and suddenly March Madness is less riveting than Curling.

I just hope they put a mat below the ladder while coach K cuts the net down… just in case.

Conference championship weekend wrapped up today and the NCAA bracket is officially set. No surprise that Kansas was the #1 overall seed, followed by #2 Kentucky, #3 Duke and #4 Syracuse.

West Virginia, who won the Big East Tournament last night, and Ohio State, had good arguments for being #1 seeds, but Duke and Syracuse ended up getting the nod. I don’t believe there is much difference between a 1 and 2 seed, but the fact that Duke played in arguably the 4th best conference this year and Syracuse lost their last two games, including a first round exit from the Big East Tournament, you are allowed to bitch if you’re from West Virginia or Ohio.

I believe Kansas is the #1 overall team without question, but I believe this Tournament is still wide open. I can’t remember a year when the NCAA had so much parity, which should set the table for some great early-round upsets. With that said, I wouldn’t be shocked to see a Kansas vs. Kentucky final.

I remember 2008 when Kansas played Memphis in one the best NCAA Championship games in recent memory. Kansas was loaded with veteran talent, and Memphis was basically an NBA team with a college uniform. Obviously Bill Self got the best of John Calipari in that matchup, so a rematch would be intriguing.

Get your brackets and excuses ready because play starts Thursday afternoon on CBS!
